My name is Ayush Vispute and I am a rising sophomore at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs.
Hands in Harmony's journey began in 2018. That year, I volunteered at the Marian Soup Kitchen with my mom in Downtown Colorado Springs, in charge of handing out food and other items to people who came by. During wintertime, I began to really look around at the people I was working with and realized that there were a lot of people there who didn’t have enough clothes for the wintertime. I thought back to my own mom, who struggles with the cold and I was spurred into action with the thought: “How can I help?”
This interaction inspired Hands in Harmony’s first initiative: The Lost and Found Initiative. Since then, I’ve continued to respond to the needs of the community I know I have the capability to help with, more recently through the Public Workshops I hold at the library.
More than anything, the initiatives I’ve decided to take on have shown me truly how special Colorado Springs is. Through handing out clothes to people at God’s Pantry, or teaching kids skills they never knew before, I’m learning something new every single day, and it’s only fueling my urge to continue giving.
Hands of Harmony’s most important base is this: People Help People. I’m dedicated to this action.
